Bitterness and Resentment

“Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.” - Mark Twain

It is easy when we perceive that we do not have what we want to become bitter and resentful toward those who we deem do. It makes sense that this is tied into “I deserve” because we see ourselves as deserving of what the other has. It’s helpful to me to ask, “Why do I deserve to be smarter, richer, more successful, etc.?” Have I done everything I can, and life has still beat me down? It makes sense that we can rarely say yes, and when we can, it’s time to take a step back and realize the chaos of life and an important variable called luck.
