Being Present
Being fully present with another person allows much of what we struggle with in terms of listening falls away. We won’t interrupt as much because we can think of how the other person might feel. We can listen because we realize at this very moment, we cannot win, and the only thing to do is be there. We can be intensely aware of the other person’s body language because we will not be mind wandering. Finally, our questions will be curious because we won’t be worried about anything else aside from thinking of items that will draw the heart and soul out of the other person. Being present helps us to check out the ego at the door and to leave the mental baggage behind.
