What do we want?

As we pass through different periods, such as now, a new decade, it seems to be beneficial to ask ourselves, what do we want? When we complain about the way things are, it implies that we know what might be better. If we wish for something and it comes true, the perplexing thing is that it might be worse than with what we started. It’s when we try and realize this new approach is not as slick as we had envisioned that we could learn. I argue that we don’t know what we want but must take constant account of where we are and where we think that we want to know well that it changes along the way.
