Imagos
Imago is a term that was used heavily during the early 1900s in the field of psychoanalysis. This term has to do with the difference between the objective reality of a person or an object and the subjective importance of those. The interesting thing to note is that it was suggested this term opens the door for children to form a god-like image of their parents. It makes sense to me that if we have a god-like perception of our parents, then it is difficult at best for us to see them for who they are and with the flaws they have. It is essential to be able to view our parents for who they are so that we might be able to forgive them for the imperfect humans that they are.
