Silence

Brene Brown tells us that silence is one component of the jet fuel that adds to the fire of shame. The bewildering thing here is how we so readily will treat people with silence. There is a phenomenon that many folks are familiar with known as “ghosting”. That is where someone does not respond to a text message purposefully. That, to me, seems like silence and hence, a contributing factor to shame. This notion seems to me yet another reason we should be careful of our actions and how they might be causing shame in others.
