Seeking to Understand

Science tells us what is. It does not tell us the meaning to assign to the discovery. In my mind, what matters in life are human relations. How a scientific discovery impacts social relationships, both individual and at a group level, assigns value. It makes sense in my head then that to assign appropriate meaning, we must understand each other. When we know others, we can act in a way that might benefit them. It is only when we truly appreciate another that we can begin to understand ourselves.
