Pain

It has been said that once we reach the age of about twenty-five, we no longer change unless we go through a tremendous amount of pain. As Tony Robbins says, we will not change until the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of changing. This notion makes sense from an energetic and mental capacity standpoint. Change is physically and mentally demanding. It requires many resources, and if back in the day, we were limited on such resources, then change could have meant our demise.
