Winning
Perhaps this is a byproduct of my career, but people I speak with at work always seem to need to win. The worst part is when they listen, they are not looking for comprehension of the other person’s point but to simply understand enough to defeat their point and win with their own. It makes sense to me that a successful listener does not merely win with logic. Still, they also listen intently enough to make the other person feel heard and then present their ideas in a manner that sways the other person without shamefully telling them.
