What is cognitive dissonance?
Cognitive dissonance occurs when we have inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes. This situation can arise within us in the form of saying we want to seek the truth but knowing that we are making things up. It’s uncomfortable to live in this realm. If we honor this disconnect, it can propel us to make a change. If we do not work to reduce this dissonance, then we might be more compelled to distract and lie to ourselves not to have to feel the feelings.
